Who Are You?
We go through life, often unknowingly, carrying various roles and titles. For instance, even when traveling to a distant, unknown country, a simple question like “Where are you from?” instantly reminds us of our nationality and the culture we grew up in. This can be a source of pride and a sense of belonging.
However, as we age, we might feel constrained by societal expectations: behaving a certain way because of our nationality, eating certain foods due to our age, living a certain lifestyle because of our job, or making purchases based on our income. Have you ever felt that your relationships and lifestyle have been shaped more by the circumstances and environment you find yourself in, rather than your own choices?
- Feeling constantly swayed by others.
- Frequently blaming others without self-reflection.
- Lacking vibrancy in daily life.
- Unsure of what you like or want to do.
If any of these resonate with you, perhaps you’ve lost sight of your ‘true self’ (self-identity). If you don’t know your true self, others can’t recognize the real you either. If you’ve lost sight of your self, no matter how much you try to persuade others or explain yourself, your true essence won’t be conveyed.
Wanting to live vividly and authentically, taking responsibility for choices big and small, and desiring a sense of independence at any age are natural aspirations. But where should we start?
KR, who lives in Hawaii, makes her daily choices through a process of ‘cleaning’. From choosing what to wear when she wakes up to shopping, mowing the lawn, booting up her computer, and opening a can in the kitchen – she believes in cleaning with each of these actions. Wouldn’t you like to hear how this approach shapes her life?
