Who is it that made you feel this way?

A family member who doesn’t recognize your efforts?
A grumpy cashier?
The economy of this country?
A betrayal by someone you trusted?

Why is it that something intangible—something you cannot touch or even see—can trouble your heart so deeply, affect your relationships, change how you see the world, and sometimes even manifest in your physical body?

Why do our families, our friends, or even complete strangers seem to hold such magical influence over us?
Why does a distant event in another country, seen only through a screen, fill us with fear or leave us sleepless with anxiety?

Are emotions something that can be forcibly planted in us by others?

So then, where does the real problem lie?

When it comes to solving problems, SITH Ho’oponopono always begins by asking us this:

What if the source of all emotion is actually our own subconscious?
What if the feelings we experience—joy, sorrow, or anything else—are simply memories we’ve been unconsciously holding onto, without choice, since the beginning of the universe?

In other words, every emotion we feel has always existed within us.

These memories continue to repeat over and over.

Through our families, we relive these old memories.
Through our friends, we relive these old memories.
Through our work, we relive these old memories.
Even through the land we live on, we are being shown the same memories again and again.

Right now, through every emotion we experience, we are being given an opportunity—moment by moment—to become free from memory.

And when we are freed from memory, all the people, things, places, and even the universe itself that were connected to that memory are also cleaned.

Whenever we become aware of another person—whether we feel anger, compassion, or a wish for peace—the very first thing we can do is care for ourselves.

Whatever emotion you may be holding right now, when you clean with it, that memory is released across the farthest reaches of the universe.
You hold that much power.
