When something unpleasant happens, when our emotions are shaken or when a problem arises, we often rush to search for the cause. We become determined to find the “culprit.”
Like a fisherman who, at the very moment a big catch bites, grips the rod with all his strength—thinking, “I won’t let this one get away!”—and focuses every nerve on holding tight, we too pour our energy into clinging to a problem instead of letting it go.
We take a firm stance, as if the rules for resolving problems have already been set: only when we find the culprit and the outcome we expect finally arrives can we let go. Without realizing it, we begin to live according to this belief.
But in those moments, are we truly in the process of resolving anything?
If the result we want is already fixed in our minds, is there really freedom there?
While walking through the park with Jean, we talked about the relationship between problems and expectations, and how cleaning can open the way for Divinity to guide us.
