Forgiving and Honoring Yourself
Interviewer:I’m so happy to see you, Instructor Nello — you’re so kind and warm!
Nello Ceccon:I’m very happy to see all of you, too.
Interviewer:The first thing I’d like to ask you is about the Inner Child. One of the students asked: what is the relationship between the Inner Child and physical health? And how can we bring about cleaning on the level of health by caring for the Inner Child?
Nello:Thank you — this is a very beautiful question, and it is also something we can clean. From the perspective of Ho’oponopono, whatever is happening in our body or our health is directly related to our Inner Child — that is, our Unihipili, the subconscious. And the reverse is true as well: there is a direct relationship between our Inner Child (the subconscious) and the body. Let me give an example. Recently I’ve had some discomfort in my shoulder, and I know that this discomfort is connected to certain memories within me, in my subconscious. I asked myself: what is happening within me, in my subconscious, that is letting me experience this pain in my shoulder? In some ways, I know what the cause is. Over these past few months, I have not taken good care of my body and my Inner Child. I know that the pain in my shoulder is a signal, reminding me of this. In this process, I also experienced guilt — I felt it was my fault, because the shoulder pain kept me from being able to exercise. I felt guilty about not having taken good care of myself. I experience this kind of guilt easily. I imagine many students may feel something similar — especially those who have practiced cleaning for many years, who might think: “How can something like this happen? I’ve practiced cleaning for so long, I clean every day; my life should be going smoothly, without any health problems at all.” For me, I am facing two things: First, the pain that my shoulder brings me; Second, the guilt toward myself that this shoulder pain gives rise to. But in these past days, I have discovered that what the shoulder pain wants to teach me is this: what my Inner Child, my subconscious, truly needs is unconditional love. What is happening in this moment is not what matters. What matters is that within me I feel oneness — no guilt, and no sense of division. This allows me to honor and love myself in a different way. For me, this is a very beautiful lesson: to forgive myself, and to honor myself; to know that this comes from replaying memories, and that I can let it go. When we meet problems in life, sometimes we feel as though we cannot see a way out. But these days, my experience of cleaning has let me feel that I am able to come out of the problem — because I know that behind the problem there are only memories, memories stored within my Inner Child. So once again, I have begun to care for myself unconditionally, and in these days I have given my Inner Child more love and care. Through this process I have felt confidence — I have felt that I am able to come through the pain in my shoulder. Thank you.
Meeting the Right Doctor Within Cleaning
Interviewer:What I feel from what you’ve shared is that all physical symptoms — whether pain or some kind of illness — are in fact a signal released by the Inner Child. This signal reminds us that perhaps we have been neglecting the body, and it calls us to care for the Inner Child. In other words, we truly need awareness: when we feel discomfort in some part of the body, rather than immediately searching everywhere for medicine or rushing to see a doctor, we should first return to our own inner self and ask our Unihipili, “What am I experiencing right now?”
Nello:The first thing is to communicate with Unihipili, and to remind ourselves that when we treat ourselves with an attitude of love and care, we are able to pass through discomfort and illness. This is a very important thing I have learned in these past days. When I clean deeply, I am able to release the memories of illness and pain. I don’t know how everyone usually faces physical discomfort or illness. For me, having cleaned does not mean I will definitely not see a doctor. In fact, this time, after I noticed the pain in my shoulder, I went to see a doctor. At the time the pain was so bad that I couldn’t sleep at night; I was worried, so I went to the doctor — but I was in the midst of cleaning, and I met the right doctor. He was very kind: he didn’t have me take an X-ray, he didn’t have me take an MRI; he examined me for just one minute and knew what was wrong with me, prescribed medicine, and told me what kind of physical exercises to do. Meeting the right doctor truly gave me an enormous sense of relief. He didn’t even charge me, and I don’t know why he didn’t charge me. To him, it was very clear what was wrong with me. But to me, at that time, I was very confused. Although I had been cleaning all along, from a medical and physical point of view I was confused, not knowing what was wrong with me, and because of that I felt worried. A thought even arose: “Could it be cancer?” And cleaning let me meet the right doctor. Thank you, thank you.
Which Cleaning Tools Did You Use?
Nello:I would also like to share another cleaning experience related to a doctor. A few months ago my ear hurt; at night it would wake me from sleep with pain. I didn’t know why, and at the time I was very worried — worried that I might go deaf. So I began to clean, a great deal of cleaning. At first I tried to heal myself, but it didn’t work, so I decided to go to my family doctor. But the line of people waiting to see him was very long, and I didn’t want to wait, so I went to another ear specialist. In Italy, making an appointment with such a specialist usually takes a few weeks, but that time I didn’t need to wait — that doctor happened to be free. The doctor said that my ear was not inflamed and there was nothing wrong with it; the pain was coming from a certain way I was moving my lower jaw, and as long as I stopped using that mistaken way of moving it, my ear would no longer hurt. The day after I came back, the pain in my ear was gone. No medicine, and no other treatment. Once again, cleaning let me meet the right doctor. I am not against seeing doctors — rather, it is through cleaning that I am able to meet the right doctor.
Interviewer:Thank you. Could you share a little about how you did the cleaning during this process?
Nello:The first thing I do every morning when I wake up is to embrace myself and offer care to Unihipili (something learned in the official SITH 2-day course). I do this every day. When my body is unwell, I do it even more. When I experience physical pain, a cleaning tool I use very often is Ice Blue. And another cleaning tool I learned in the course has helped me a great deal as well. I also did the physical exercises the doctor asked me to do. At that time the shoulder pain occurred only in my right shoulder, so I knew that the two sides of my body also needed to be balanced. So, a few days before going to see the doctor, I also did another step for re-balancing the body that is taught in the course. In this very moment, I look for the cleaning tools I can use right now, and — within the inspiration of this moment — I use the cleaning tools that inspiration tells me I can use.
