Voicesfrom Hawaii

This is Part 3 of the series "Voices from Hawaii." Once again, we spoke with Instructor Jean Nakasato on the island of Oahu. The interviewer is Irene Taira.
The conversation began with the question of whether the feeling of inferiority ever goes away. It moved through the fear of passing a parent's memories on to a child and how frightening it is to let our children be free, then turned to the moments when wishing for someone's happiness becomes pain. Finally, we asked Jean for a message to everyone watching.

Will the Feeling of Inferiority Ever Go Away? Why We Clean Anyway
- Q
Many people carry the feeling that they will never be number one, and also feel inferior because of where they were born, their race, or the language they speak. A minority language. And I am one of them. So do you think the feeling of my inferiority will be gone after so much cleaning?
- Jean
No, that you cannot predict.
- Q
So why do I need to do the cleaning?
- Jean
Because if you do not, it is going to pile up, pile up, pile up, pile up, and then you are going to sink. People like hoarders, you know what hoarders are? The kind of people who collect things.
And that is what happens to your Unihipili: if that thought form sits with you, it is going to pile up, pile up, pile up, and then you are going to sink.
So you want to refresh yourself moment to moment, every day. That is why you have to invest in cleaning.
A Parent's Memory, and the Safety Net
- Q
This is another question very related to the one that you answered. Everyone carries trauma of some size from their own life. Many parents are afraid that they will pass a memory on to their child before they have managed to let it go. Can a parent's memory be stopped from flowing to the child? What is the single most important thing a parent can do?
- Jean
Clean self.
Because you see, if the parent has that fear, you have to remember that when you do the Ho'oponopono cleaning, you are not determining. You are letting Divinity do it. That is the safety net.
Because if you do it, it might be traumatizing the child. You do not know all the parameters related to the situation.
So if you clean the thought that you do not want the memories to pass on, then Divinity will take over. You let Divinity take care of your children.
The best gift anybody can give their child is to clean what you are emotionally feeling, and set them free.
The best gift anybody can give their child is to clean what you are emotionally feeling, and set them free.
- Irene
So like you said, clean yourself. I clean myself to connect to Divinity, so that it lets my children's pathway connect to Divinity too.
- Jean
Yes, that is how it works. And then you have all these multiple triunes: you, your children, your house, everything. So when you clean, then everything comes off of everybody.

The Shoes, the Bag, and Invading Someone's Path
- Irene
A very clear example of this recently happened to me.
I took my daughter and my son to an event. To thank everyone for their help and support, they had prepared gifts, some shoes, some bags, and for me they were really pricey.
I wanted my daughter to pick the shoes, because she did not have shoes one size bigger. So I told her, go get the shoes, so that I do not need to buy them.
When she came to choose, I was almost trying to give her a hint: "I think those shoes are really cool." And she said, "Oh, really? I thought that bag was cool." That bag was super small, and for me it was like, what are you going to use it for? So I said, "That is good, but I think you will enjoy the shoes more."
Then I remembered Ho'oponopono. Oh my God, I am invading her path.
So I started cleaning, stopped talking, and told my daughter, "I think you should pick whatever you think is right." In the end, she picked that little bag.
I am such a small-hearted person, and I still kind of regretted that bag. I wished she had picked the shoes, or at least a big backpack. So I kept cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.
Then the next day, we were at the river, and she was walking with that bag on. We also had a big dog with us, my friend's dog.
It was really slippery there. The dog is really well-behaved, but the moment he found the ducks, his wild instincts took over and he ran toward them. She was still holding the leash.
So she slipped and fell, and there was a big rock. She hit her chest area. She said, "Ow!" but she stood up. At first I was so afraid she had fractured something.
But right in front of her chest was that little bag. So she was okay. The bag protected her.
I remembered Ho'oponopono. We really never know. That is what you are always talking about.
- Jean
Yeah. That is right. You never know. You really never know.
- Irene
We do Ho'oponopono and think nothing happened, nothing works. I cannot solve my problem. But we do not know.
- Jean
See, we just think that nothing is happening.
I say in Health Class that we have 60 trillion cells in our body. Every single cell has an identity. And do you know what happens to every single cell when we clean? We do not know. We have no idea. Consciously, we cannot know.
So it is all about just cleaning, and letting go and letting God.
Letting Your Children Be Free
- Irene
So, let us go back to what was said earlier. It is very scary for us to let our children be free.
When I am happy and feel confident, I feel, okay, I want my children to be free. But honestly speaking, most of the time I feel like I need to correct them. To guide them. Or to let them make the perfect choice for them.
- Jean
And that is natural. All parents think like that. I have to provide for my children. I have to do this.
- Irene
The best.
- Jean
But if you have memories and aka cords, then you are stuck. You want the aka cords and the pathway to be free. Then Divinity will come to you and make the perfect and right choice through the child.
- Irene
So what you are saying is, if we still have a memory and we give them advice, we connect with them through the aka cord, and their pathway is blocked.
- Jean
That is right. Exactly.
- Irene
So it is not that we should not give them any advice. It is more that before we give them advice, or when the thought comes up that we want to give them advice, we clean first.
- Jean
That is right. Clean, so that when you speak, you are speaking from Divinity's stand.
- Irene
Not from my fear.
- Jean
That is right. Not from your fear.
- Irene
Not from my own traumas.
- Jean
That is right. It is a choice. Which side do you want to stand on? Memories or Divinity?
Which side do you want to stand on? Memories or Divinity?

Wanting Someone to Be Happy, and the Pain Inside It
- Irene
Sometimes I have a strong, I can say, desire. A wish for my family to be a certain way. It is not about why they do not do things for me. It is more that I really want them to be happy.
That sounds like a good feeling, good thoughts. Like a wish for someone's happiness. But I realized that this very wish gives me a lot of pain.
Does that make any sense? I really want them to be happy, but it appears to me they are doing the opposite, or doing the wrong thing. Sometimes it seems to me they purposely make their lives very difficult, and then unhappy.
It is because, unless I am free from all those thoughts, I am the one blocking them.
- Jean
That is right, you are blocking them. You want them to be happy, but what you see as happiness is perhaps not Divine happiness. That is what it is.
You can have inspiration, but is it Divine inspiration?
- Irene
Look at myself. Look at myself and do my own cleaning.
- Jean
Yeah, your own cleaning.
What an Instructor Hopes You Take Home
- Q
You are teaching Ho'oponopono as an instructor now. Which means you would like participants to get something from the class. What would you like to teach the participants? Or what would you like to obtain from them?
- Jean
Oh, okay. From the participants, what I look for is if they can connect up to their Unihipili. That to me is important.
And then it is the clarity of information. I can tell by the questions they ask if the information presented was clear or not clear.
But mainly it is the clarity and the essence of the Unihipili.

A Message to Everyone Watching
- Irene
Please give us a message for the people who are watching.
- Jean
Well, thank you very much for this opportunity.
Every single moment of our life tells a story. I always remember that. And every story has a history behind it. So we either take the moment to clean, or not.
I am grateful for this opportunity to clean moment to moment.
Thank you very much. Thank you. Bye. Aloha.
Every single moment of our life tells a story.
